About Sue Hameed — 14 Years Building and Automating a Service Business
About Sue Hameed

I built the business I always wanted to run, then I built the systems so it could run without me.

14 years in mortgage, a 25-person brokerage built as a woman in a room that wasn't designed for me, and a life that went from 13 hour days to 3 or 4. Here's how that happened, and why I teach it now.

My story

Everything I teach came out of my own business, not a course I bought.

I grew up inside a family business, running sales, operations, and finance before I was old enough to know that's what I was doing. Then I spent 14 years in mortgage and built my own brokerage from the ground up. For a long stretch I was the business. Every deal, every decision, every fire came to me, and honestly, I wore it like a badge.

I built it as a woman in an industry where there aren't many women at the ownership level. I know what it's like to build something real in a space that wasn't designed for you to win, and that shapes how I see the women I work with, because I've lived it rather than read about it.

From doing everything to running almost nothing

The turning point wasn't hiring more people. It was going through my operations piece by piece and asking one question of every task: automate it, delegate it, or eliminate it. I did that across the whole company, and I went from 13 hour days with most weekends gone to 3 to 4 hours a day and no weekends, with the brokerage still the top funding and volume operation in Ontario under our network.

I'm not a consultant who left the trenches ten years ago. I'm still running the business every week, doing the thing I teach.

That's the part that matters to me. Most people advising service businesses are teaching a version of the game they last played a long time ago, or one they never played at all. I'm building these frameworks against live numbers, which is why they hold up in a real business today.

Why I teach it now

For the last couple of years I've chaired a Small Business peer group through TEC Canada, which is part of Vistage, so I spend my weeks inside other people's businesses. Contractors, insurance agents, salon owners, cleaning companies. More than 50 owners across a dozen industries, and the same two or three bottlenecks surface every single time. I've been recognized as a Woman of Influence and nominated for Business Woman of the Year, but the recognition I actually care about is a founder finally getting her time back. So I built a diagnostic that hands any woman that clarity for the price of a lunch, and I take on a few directly each month where I know I can move the needle.

How I work

Diagnose before you prescribe.

You wouldn't take the medication before the X-ray, so I don't hand anyone a fix before I understand what's actually broken. I use AI to find the bottlenecks fast and rank them by what they're costing you, then we start with the two or three that matter most. I'm not a tech person selling you software and hoping it fits your world. I'm an operator who built and automated a real service business, using AI as the tool. And I'm selective, because I'd rather help ten women get a real result than give fifty people surface advice.
